PART 1: Intro: Getting Your Biz Ready to Build Buzz
You’ve got a rockin’ business idea, a solid new product, a fabulous new service you’re getting ready to launch. Now you just need to spread the word, right? Not exactly. The most successful public relations campaigns don’t begin with the pitch or the press release: there are several key elements a business should have in place before the start of any campaign. Without these elements in place, many PR efforts fall flat. In this class you will learn what these key foundation elements are, what you can do to ensure your business is prepared for a PR campaign, brainstorm ideas to enhance your specific business, and get a glimpse of the topics that will be covered in the remaining series. After the class you will obtain a customized pre-PR checklist for your business.
PART 2: The Press Release & The Pitch
Now that your business is prepped for public relations, it’s time to prepare your pitch and start spreading the word. This class covers the anatomy of the press release, Do’s and Don’ts of pitching to the media, how to pitch approprieaately to different mediums, and tips on how to get your pitch and press release noticed above the hundreds of others skimming the desks of editors.
PART 3: Event Promotions & Community Outreach
Building buzz is so much more than just sending a press release. It’s building your brand across platforms to appropriate audiences in innovative ways. In this class, we’ll discuss how community outreach and partnerships can enhance your brand and help build buzz. We’ll also brainstorm appropriate event marketing opportunities for your particular business, cover the basics of event planning, management and execution, and creative ideas for event promotion.
